ABSTRACT: The main goal of this study is to analyze the spatial distribution of fire points for 2002, in the Cerrado biome in Mato Grosso state; located in the Legal Amazon region. It was used data from the MODIS products: MOD14/MYD14, and the product of GOES satellite: WFABBA (Wildfire Automated Biomass Burning Algorithm), for the analysis of the spatial distribution, the Brazilian vegetation biomes map from MMA (Ministry of Environment) and CCATT-BRAMS (Coupled Chemistry-Aerosol-Tracer Transport model coupled to Brazilian Regional Atmospheric Modelling System), for the estimation of CO and PM2.5µm from the biomass burning. The results indicate that the largest average concentration of fire points is located in the secondary vegetation class, followed by Savana Estépica and forest classes. By analyzing the highest incidence of fire points, it can diagnose a greater intensity of fire points in the forest, antropic and secondary vegetation classes, with 64, 62 e 41 fire points per km² , respectively. Thus, it can be pointed out that in the transition areas between Cerrado and Amazon biomes there are the largest emissions of Co and PM2,5µm, with total concentrations over 550,000 ppb e 41,000 μg.m-3., respectively.
